Instead of waiting for Yahoo to select the draft order, once we have our 12 teams set I will have one manager come up with a list 1-12 in random order. He will email the other members of the league the order of numbers. After that (and not seeing the order), I will post which teams have each number. This way everyone can start planning their draft based on position. Also, I believe that I can assign traded draft picks if anyone wants to do that too.
So, for example...
Regal Homer emails everyone (except me): 1. 3 2. 1 3. 4 4. 2 etc
Then I post: 1 = Team C 2 = Team B 3 = Team A 4 = Team D
I will then set the order of the draft based on the order posted and the teams assigned. If Team B wants the #1 overall pick, he can propose a trade to Team A (such as "my first round and second round picks for your first round and fifth round picks"). Trading draft picks requires an even number of picks traded, so if you want to do a "2 for 1" deal you need to include the last round pick or something else to make it "2 for 2."

ok, we have 11 out of the 12 signed up for the board. i can email the 12th to get him on here.
what we can do is have regal homer (since he is the most active so far in terms of posts) come up with a "1. C 2. F 3. L ..... 12. D" list and have him message the list to a few members. when he tells me he has done this, i will post in this thread my "A = Bronx Indians ... B = Cali Stars ... etc" regal homer can then post the draft order and we'll match up the ABC's and have our draft order. i will then set that order in the league and people can start trading draft picks if desired.
sooo, regal, please (if you don't mind) come up with this 1-12, A-L list and let me know when you have sent it to a few managers and i will post who is what letter. thanks!

again, feel free to try and move up or down based on preference. if anyone agrees to a trade of draft picks i can swap picks in the league settings. if closer doesn't want #2 overall and manny wanted 9, they could swap first round and second round picks if they so desired (ie, manny trades 9 and 16 for 2 and 23, or maybe 2 and 26 if they went with 1st and closer's third). just remember that you have to have an even swap, so giving up a 25th round pick would even it up in a 2 for 1 type deal.

also i don't have a problem if someone wants to completely move down in order and can find a willing trade partner. just post in here any desire to trade down or up and hopefully you will get some responses. you can also message the owners of the top picks if you so desire. again, i will tell the last owner to get on here so you can offer him trades for that #1 overall pick.

yeah i guess i'll try and move the draft back an hour since a few people have asked and no one has objected (IF there are time slots available).
the order by Regal and the order by me were both done separately (described in the thread) and then matched up. Regal sent out his order then i posted who each letter was matched with, then he posted his order of letters and i posted the official order of the draft. this process takes it out of a single person's hands to make it completely random.

i moved the draft back 45 minutes. that was the latest possible time available. also, i know some people have to be done early, so i figured that 45 minutes was a good middle ground. please set your pre draft rankings if you think you might miss the very beginning.
also, as posted in the news feed, we will do the prospect draft starting after opening day. each team will have 24 hours to make their pick. please try to check more frequently and post your pick quicker. if i see someone hasn't posted their pick in about 12 hours i will try to remember and send an email reminder.
if you want, you can send me a list you want used in case you miss your pick. if you do miss your pick in 24 hours, i will either use your list or just use the baseball america list i posted earlier and take the best available player. if you draft a guy in the player pool and he doesn't make the opening day roster, you can post on the thread that you will use your 6th round, 5th round, etc pick on that player and drop him (POST IN THE THREAD YOUR INTENTIONS BEFORE DROPPING HIM!!). that way you can have your player protected and add a guy who will contribute right away and also speed up the prospect draft.

I'm still trying to figure out my early draft strategy. Draft for this year or for the future? I'm lovin' the 4 spot though.

I'm willing to trade a 2nd or 3rd and a later pick for a 4th and 5th or something moving down the ladder
