Welcome everyone.. Just so everyone knows (in case any references are made that confuse anyone else), 4 of us are currently in the 2nd year of a keeper league. Mannybeingmanny, thecloser, and Regal Homer and I are starting our second year. All four of us are very active, which is why I wanted them to join this league (Regal is the commissioner in that one). Additionally, I invited a friend from my law school (Springfield Isotopes) and a 2nd cousin of mine (Do Work!) who are both active fantasy managers. Everyone else (6 other managers) responded to posts on the message boards. Although not everyone is on the proboard just yet, I hope to get everyone on here and active. If anyone wants to or needs to leave before the start of the season, please do so sooner rather than later (so I can find a replacement). I would rather have to replace a manager who doesn't think they can handle the league than have someone not participate all season long.
Just a reminder, this is a dynasty league. In case you wern't sure, we will draft our team one time (this year) and then you will keep those players forever. If you make any trades or free agency adds/drops, those players also stay on your team each successive years. The first draft is very important. You can obviously make trades for players you want after the draft. The prospect draft is also key because this will give you an opportunity to add a young guy almost ready to be called up, or a stud 19 year old prospect who won't be called up for a few years. Just imagine if you had Hanley Ramirez a few years ago when he was in the minors on your farm team. You would be adding a future stud to your team simply by doing some research a few years before (and getting lucky that he doesn't wash out in AA). This is what makes the dynasty leagues fun; consistency of your roster, your hard work during a season not evaporating in the offseason, and the possibility to add a future all star from your minor league roster straight to your team without the chance of someone else drafting him.
I hope everyone enjoys the league and good luck!
